I was assigned to the power plants shop during my time with VP-28. Between the Adak deployment in 1966, and the Okinawa deployment in 1968, one of the squadrons P-3's had a "high time" engine, that is, one of the power plants had successfully achieved the maximum number of flight hours recommended by Lockheed and Allison. This was the first time this had occurred and many dignitaries were present for a ceremony before the engine was removed and sent away for inspection. Many pictures were taken. Does anyone have copies of the pictures that they would be willing to share, or suggestions as to where I could get a copy?

So glad to see that there is some communication from VP28 and shipmates. It's been a long time since I joined the squadron. I came aboard as an aviation electricians mate right out of school in '67. Left when the squadron was de-commissioned in '69. Gotta say that I really enjoyed my tour with the squadron.

I remember once as I was walking into the hanger without my cover on a LTJG came walking out. He stopped, made sure that I put my cover on and saluted him before he went on his way. I still chuckle about that.

I reported to VP 28 at NAS Barber's Point in December 1951. We had an enlisted pilot from Omaha named Ordell Kerschner. My boss was LTJG Ruggerio from Brooklyn . . . he played fooyball at Denison College in Ohio. I was with the squadron for only 5 months and did not deploy with it. I remember a fellow Texas named Laddie P. Mulkey.

There was an enlisted pilot (NAP) by the name of R.G. Kirschner, whose rank at the time was AM1. He was one of the patrol plane commanders and usually flew CF-5. I was not in his crew. I understand he later died test flying a Navy Jet at the test center at Pautuxet River Maryland. Laddie Mulkey lives in the Dallas area and I heard recently that he is in ill health.

My name- Ken Carrier, VP-28 from 11/50 to 12/52. Was on a couple flare drop missions over Korea, also a couple scraps with Mig-15s as member of crew 7 in '52, when we were based on Okinawa. My grandfather Edmund Zebrowski was in VP-28. He was in the plane that crashed in '57 in Hawaii. Unfortunately, he passed away in '91. Did anyone here know him?

Hello all. My father who is shill living was in WWII and Korean war. He was assigned to VP-28 from Sep. 1951 to Aug 1952. He was an radio/radar man. He was AT1. He was assigned Naha and flew with crew 2 during this time frame. They had several missions over China coast. He would love to chat with anyone who wants to share memories. Reported March 59 and left May 63. Nuclear testing and two deployments to MCAS Iwakuni. Flew crew 4 and crew 1. Enjoyed the squadron and my duties. The Oscar flights were long and the poopy suits were awful. Discharged as AE2.

Hello everyone,
My name is George Bernard. I was in AEWBARRONPAC at NAS Barbers Pt when it decommissioned in 1965. At that time I was transferred to VP-28. I was sent to Moffett for numerous P-3 schools & then back to VP-28 after which we deployed to Sangley NS, Philippines. At Sangley I was sent to AIMD. Shortly after return to Barbers Pt. my discharge date camr up. So, as you can see, I really didn't have a lot of time with squadron personnel. At a later time I reenlisted in the Navy & became a P-3 Flight Engineer. I would appreciate any & all pictures you could send me relating to VP-28 Squadron planes, personnel, activities, etc.

I believe my dad Calvin Fredrick Taylor was assigned to VP28 during the early 1950s. I have a painting of a "Neptune" that he had.It has CF on the tail 9 on the nose and VP28 on the fuselage. there is not a BUNO on the tail.However the back has the #049305. There are no jets on the wings.There are nose, tail and deck guns visible. the starboard wing has a pod with a clear nose and the port wing has a pod with a solid nose. I looked at the crew photos for the 09-53,01-55,and 06-56 deployments. he is not listed in the 09-53 or 06-56 photos. however I think he is in the 01-55 photo. There is not a list of the crew on the 01-55 photo. Is there a way to find a list of the crew in the 01-55 photo? I would like to confirm some of my dad's history. Thanks in advance for anything you might find.

Ron Campbell AE2...see your comment.......I was QA Chief from October 68 until early in the Okinawa when I was tod in the hanger bay that starting immediately I was the new Maintenance Chief..tried to refuse it BUT. Never knew why the change, Tough for awhile as I am sure everyone thought it was my doing. LCDR John Sykes was MO. I had just arrived from decommission of a VS (25) on the Yorktown and had the Pueblo incident and then a scant year we had the EC121......am 91 living in CArthage Texas now.
