A Message from the Reunion Coordinator - John Lewis
All Hands,
Please note that a lot of planning has taken place by the reunion team to insure our Charleston reunion is not only educational but enjoyable. Transportation has been reserved and activities scheduled. Wednesday we will be checking in at the hotel and renewing friendships. The Hospitality Room will be set up with refreshments. There is also dining in the hotel and a full service bar.
Thursday at 0900 we will be headed to the "Hunley Museum". You will be able to tour the museum and see the actual civil war submarine. Our tour guide will take us back to the olden days of naval warfare. Lunch will be available at Memorial Park,over looking Charleston Bay, for those who want to participate. Everyone should be back to the hotel by 1400. At 1600 our shuttle will start taking people to downtown Charleston. Last shuttle to return at 2200.
Friday will start out with a trip to Patriots Point and the Naval & Maritime Museum. It is there that we will go aboard the USS Yorktown and enjoy lunch in the Chief's Mess. You will also find a naval destroyer open should you want to take a look. We should be back to the hotel by 1400. At 1600 the shuttle will again start taking people to downtown Charleston.
On Saturday morning a visit to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is planned, one of the top 25 most visited historic houses in America. Charles Kuralt, noted journalist, stated that the plantation was quote "My Greatest Charleston Pleasure". Everyone will be shuttled back to the hotel that afternoon in time to get a little rest before our annual meeting at 1700. The banquet is scheduled for 1830.
